Tributes paid to Gurajada.(Dec-1-2015).




Schoolchildren, teachers, intellectuals, singers, poets and others sang Gurajada Appa Rao’s patriotic song near the Telugu Talli statue at Maddilapalem junction at 11 a.m. on Tuesday as part of a State-wide programme held at major traffic junctions to pay homage to the social reformer, poet and writer on his 100th death anniversary.
Programmes were held at several places in the city and district.
The Gurajada Satavardhanti Committee organised the programme at Maddilapalem. Singing of Gurajada’s song at schools and colleges and RK beach was organised during the last few days. Former president of AU Employees’ Union Peetala Appa Rao garlanded a photo of Gurajada.
At Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju garlanded a photo of Gurajada on the campus in a programme organised by the Uttarandhra Vidyardhi Sena. Its president Sunkara Ramana Ramana Murthy and others were present.
Tributes were paid to Gurajada at programmes organised at VUDA where Vice-Chairman T. Baburao Naidu and others garlanded the bust of Gurajada at Gurajada Kalakshetram; at the District Branch Library at Gajuwaka, Sri Vivekananda Service Organisation, and other places.
